10/01/2021: TRIO - Student Support Services Advisor

The University of Dubuque is a growing faith based University that is seeking a TRIO - Student Support Services Advisor. This federally-funded program at UD serves 140 students who are first-generation, low income, and/or students with a disability by providing holistic support to participants. This is a full-time, 11-month position

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Provide academic, career, social/personal, and financial advising to SSS participants, individually and in group sessions
  • Consult and collaborate with University faculty and staff on behalf of SSS participants
  • Encourage student participation in SSS cultural enrichment activities
  • Facilitate support and mentoring opportunities for SSS Program participants
  • Maintain data on students served by the SSS Project
  • Perform extensive data entry regarding SSS participants, and maintain records and reports for the SSS Project Director critical for SSS tracking and reporting
  • Compile detailed records (will involve the creation and maintenance of confidential, separate file folders for each SSS participant that will include SSS-eligibility data)
  • Coordinate, develop and facilitate SSS programming - including educational workshops, guest speakers/lecturers, cultural enrichment opportunities and community building offerings
  • Develop and enhance existing College 101 curriculum
  • Coordinate 1-2 graduate school visits per semester for interested program participants
  • Partake in professional development trainings

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree is required; Master's degree preferred
    • Higher Ed., Developmental Ed., Communication, Psychology, Social Work or a related field is preferred
  • Minimum of one-year of experience in higher education working with populations similar to those that TRIO serves
  • Minimum of one-year of advising or advising related work
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse populations including students, faculty, staff, administration and outside agencies
  • Must have good organizational skills, strong self-motivation, and accountability
  • Maintain effective interpersonal relations with students, faculty and administration
  • Interact effectively with others and work collaboratively with other departments
  • Strong verbal and written communication in one-on-one situations, small and large group settings

The University of Dubuque invites applications for the position of Director of Seminary Vocation, beginning January, 2022. We are looking for an individual who is excited by the opportunity to accompany seminary students in their formation throughout their years of study and into post-graduate placement.
