Student Learning Outcomes
The Mathematics program builds a strong foundation of mathematical theory and applied mathematical skills. Upon completion of a Mathematics major, graduates will
- Perform advanced mathematical operations - e.g. differentiation, integration, finding limits and inverses, algebraic (matrix), counting (permutations and combinations), and geometric constructions.
- Prove mathematical results using a variety of proof techniques and counterexamples.
- Communicate mathematics clearly and precisely using proper terminology, pronunciation, and notation.
- Find and represent their solutions to applied problems using a variety of quantitative methods.
- Analyze ethical issues related to the use of mathematics in decisions likely to be encountered in one's professional career.
