  • Forerunner Award: $6,000

  • PTK (Phi Theta Kappa): $15,000.00
    • Transfer Students who are members of the international honor society of two-year colleges

  • IB (International Baccalaureate): $15,000.00 
    • First Year students who will or have earned an IB Diploma

Other Awards

  • $1,000 for each of the following:
    • Alumni Grant: awarded to students who have had, or currently have a family member attending the University of Dubuque
    • Educator Grant: awarded to students whose parent is employed by an educational institution
    • Eagle Scout Scholarship: awarded to students that have earned the Boy Scouts Eagle Scout designation
    • Gold Award Scholarship: awarded to students that have earned the Girl Scout Gold Award

  •  $2,000 each for the following:
    • Clergy Grant: awarded to children of ministers
    • Dubuque Area Partnership Award: awarded to students graduating from a Dubuque County, IA, Grant County, WI, or Jo Daviess County, IL high school and attending University of Dubuque as their first college

  • $3,000 for each of the following:
    • DoDDS (Department of Defense Dependent Schools) Partnership Award: Awarded to students graduating from a DoDDS high school
    • MCEI (Military Child Education Initiative) Award: Awarded to the children of active duty, and/or retired servicemen/women
    • Veterans Service Award: Awarded to veterans of any military service
    • The Wendt Character Scholar Conditional Scholarship: Awarded based on an application and two recommendations. Applications are accepted December 1 - January 31

  •  $6,000 for the following:
    • ROTC Service Award (Contracted Cadets): Awarded to cadets who have been awarded an Army ROTC Scholarship and who live on campus

Dollars for Scholars Matching Program

The University of Dubuque matches dollar for dollar (up to $1,000) any scholarships received through a Dollars for Scholars chapter affiliated with the Citizen Scholarship Foundation of America (CFSA).

Student Employment

Student Employment at the University of Dubuque is available first to needy students as determined by the FAFSA, then to others as needed. The University participates in the Federal Work-study program and the University funded work-study program. The average award is $2,000 per year.

Federal and State of Iowa Grants

Federal Grants

Federal Pell Grants and Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grants (FSEOG) are awarded to U.S. citizens and eligible non-citizens who demonstrate exceptional need as demonstrated by filing the FAFSA. Awarded amounts are based on individual student eligibility.

The Teacher Education Assistance for College and Higher Education (TEACH) Grant is available to students taking necessary coursework to become elementary or secondary teachers. TEACH Grant eligible students must agree to serve a minimum of 4 years as a full-time teacher in a high-need field in a school that serves low-income students. TEACH Grant eligible students must meet certain academic achievement requirements.

State of Iowa Grants

The Iowa Tuition Grant is a need-based grant for Iowa residents in the amount of up to $6,200 for 2020-2021, depending on enrollment status and funding of the program by the state. A FAFSA must be received by the processing center by the deadline of July 1 for eligibility beginning the next fall semester. Presbyterian Church (USA) Financial Aid Programs

National Presbyterian College Scholarships. 
Approximately 75 scholarships are awarded annually by the Presbyterian Church (USA) to eligible high school seniors who are successful in the national competition for them. The scholarships, which are renewable, are funded by the Presbyterian Church (USA). WaterGadget Scholarship

The name of the scholarship is WaterGadget Scholarship, and we intend to help deserving students whose parents can't afford to support them financially. The scholarship will be awarded at a minimum of $1,250* to the successful applicant(s). It is open to all students in need.

Eligibility Criteria for the Scholarship: 

  • The student should be above 18 years. And a valid document for the same should be submitted.
  • The participant must be an enrolled student at the University of Dubuque. Proof for this is also required.

The Custody X Change Giving Program awards three scholarships to single parents each year. Our redesigned program now awards three students annually, one in the spring, one in the summer, and one in the fall. And, it does so each and every year.

2019 IHERF Healthcare Career Scholarship

The Iowa Hospital Association (IHA) is proud to support the Health Care Careers Scholarship program. Available through the Iowa Hospital Education and Research Foundation (IHERF), an IHA subsidiary, these scholarships of up to $7,000 ($3,500 per year for a maximum of two years) each have supported higher education for more than 450 Iowa college students. In 2018, we expanded our scholarship awards to 50 recipients and we will continue to award 50 scholarship awards.  IHERF has supported higher education for more than 450 Iowa college students.

RAA Scholarship Foundation - Aviation

The Board of Directors of the Regional Airline Association, the industry trade association representing North American regional airlines, on May 7 ratified the establishment of the RAA Scholarship Foundation. The purpose of the foundation is to support RAA’s scholarship program, which provides financial assistance to students pursuing careers in aviation.

RAA awards $16,000-$20,000 in scholarships annually to students in collegiate aviation programs. In 2018, RAA awarded four, $4,000 scholarships.

Flight Students: Mid-Continent Instruments & Avionics

Mid-Continent Instruments and Avionics offers the annual "Pat Napolitano Memorial Scholarship for Aspiring Technicians" to graduating high school seniors and current college students pursuing their professional aviation technical education. A selected applicant will be awarded a $3,000 scholarship to be used towards their education.

LA Tutors $500 Monthly Scholarship

LA Tutors awards students who showcase their creativity and make positive impacts with a $500 Innovation in Education scholarship. On an ongoing monthly basis, this scholarship is open to all currently enrolled high school and college students who showcase their creativity while helping those around them (whether that be in a creative fundraiser, inventive new app, series of blog posts on a particular theme, or another idea. The application deadline is 11:59 pm PST on the 20th of each month.

Requirements:

  • Must be currently enrolled in high school or college
  • Cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 (or the equivalent)
  • Must be a citizen of, permanent resident of, or hold a valid student visa in the United States or Canada

Extreme Terrain Student Scholarship

Extreme Terrain is offering two $3,000 scholarships, one for the fall semester and one for the Spring Semester to eligible students pursuing a degree in Environmental Studies, Environmental Research, Land Use, Earth and Atmosphere Studies, Sustainable Land Management, Parks and Recreation, or Sustainable Agriculture Systems.

Hill & Ponton Veterans Scholarship

Joining the armed forces and serving your country is the ultimate sacrifice, so the team at Hill and Ponton are proud to give back to our nation's veterans. We are now offering four $1,000 scholarships to help veterans further their education and enter a career field that would, in turn, help other veterans.

Our veterans' scholarship program provides financial assistance to former U.S. military personnel pursuing higher education. Former members of the U.S. Navy, Army, Air Force, Marine Corps, National Guard, and Coast Guard are eligible for this assistance program following honorable discharge.
